Sometimes I like to make photos of pretty things. Here we have some type of flower (don't ask me what exactly I'm a photographer not a Botanist) in the rice fields about and hour and a half north of Port au Prince.

really beautiful! to me from the distance (Germany) it looks like water hyacinth (genus: Eichhornia spec.) a disputed species which can be or an invasive pest or an opotunity: I found this http://furniturecompany247.wordpress.com/2010/01/14/water-hyacinth-conservatory-furniture/ example, and actually you can buy these baskets even here. Maybe an interesting option also in Haiti?
ReplyDeletecheck: http://www.anamed.net/English_Home/Who_we_are____/water_hyacinth/water_hyacinth.html and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_hyacinth and pass this message to Mario so that he can support the farmers in using it!
